Oxford Police Department Welcomes 4 New Officers, Academy Honors Awarded
Four Oxford officers graduated from MDCC Police Academy, earning Top Cop, Top Academic, high shooting scores, and Road Warrior Challenge honors.

Four officers joined the Oxford Police Department's ranks after completing the MDCC Police Academy, with the class earning a sweep of standout recognitions including Top Cop, Top Academic, high shooting scores, and completion of the Road Warrior Challenge.
Blake Cain, Nick Davis, Charles Hefner, and Keaton Varnon each earned their certifications through the Mississippi Delta Community College Police Academy program. The department publicly recognized the four graduates, noting that the class produced honorees across multiple competitive categories at the academy level.
The standout designations carry weight within the academy structure. Top Cop and Top Academic represent the highest marks a cadet class can achieve across performance and scholarship, while high shooting scores signal firearms proficiency that translates directly to officer safety on patrol. Completion of the Road Warrior Challenge rounds out a demanding set of benchmarks the Oxford class cleared before earning their certificates.

Oxford PD shared the recognition on its official Facebook page, stating the department was "proud to recognize Blake Cain, Nick Davis, Charles Hefner, and Keaton Varnon on graduating from the MDCC."
The additions come as Oxford continues to grow as one of north Mississippi's most active mid-size cities, anchored by the University of Mississippi and a downtown corridor that generates year-round demand on public safety resources. Four credentialed graduates entering the force simultaneously represents a meaningful expansion of the department's sworn capacity.
