Two Men Arrested After Series of Highway 30 Auto Burglaries
Lafayette County investigators identified and arrested two suspects in a string of automobile burglaries that began in November, recovering evidence and dozens of firearms linked to multiple counties. The arrests highlight a regional crime pattern and raise safety concerns for residents who park along Highway 30 East and in nearby subdivisions.

Lafayette County law enforcement officials closed a major phase of a multi county auto burglary investigation after arrests and the recovery of numerous firearms. The probe began on November 4 when the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into a series of automobile burglaries along Highway 30 East following a report of a suspicious person attempting to enter vehicles in the Woodson Ridge Farms neighborhood at approximately 1:16 a.m. By 7:15 a.m. multiple vehicle owners reported cars had been rifled through and several firearms and personal items were missing.
Investigators collected video surveillance footage from homeowners that identified a silver SUV with a dent on the passenger side rear bumper and showed two individuals entering the vehicle. The lead suspect was identified as Da`Kiren McCuiston, 22. Lafayette County investigators alerted the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, which located the vehicle later the same day. McCuiston and the driver were detained after officers discovered items identified by Lafayette County victims, and McCuiston was arrested and interviewed by investigators.
A second suspect, Zar`Tavius Deon Harbin, 21, of Grenada, was later identified. A warrant was issued and United States Deputy Marshals captured Harbin in Memphis. A search warrant executed at McCuiston’s residence yielded 25 firearms, many reported stolen, linking the suspects to a broader network of auto burglaries across the region. Law enforcement says McCuiston is a suspect in burglary cases in Union, Pontotoc, Itawamba, Prentiss, Rankin, Grenada, Newton, Clay, Clarke, Leflore, Monroe, Marshall, Saltillo and Greenwood counties.

Both men were initially charged with two counts of commercial burglary in Lafayette County. McCuiston is pending indictment on 23 total counts related to multiple auto burglaries in Lafayette County, and a justice court judge issued a $50,000 bond. He was later released to the Union County Sheriff’s Office after posting bond at the Lafayette County Detention Center. Harbin was extradited to Lafayette County Jail on December 1, is pending indictment on 13 total counts, appeared before a justice court judge on December 2, was issued a $50,000 bond, and was later released after posting bond.
For Lafayette County residents the investigation underscores the importance of securing vehicles and storing firearms safely. The multi county scope of the arrests demonstrates ongoing cooperation among local sheriff’s offices and federal authorities as the legal process moves toward indictment and potential prosecutions.
