Kindred Studio opens in Two Harbors, offers restorative body art and cosmetics
Kindred Studio opened on Two Harbors’ second floor with scar camouflage, areola restoration and permanent cosmetics, bringing a rare specialty closer to Lake County clients.

Desire’ Dalrymple has opened Kindred Studio in the Landing Building at 629 7th Ave., 2nd Floor, giving downtown Two Harbors a specialist in permanent cosmetics and custom body art at a time when more clients want restorative work without leaving the North Shore.
The new studio is not built around walk-in traffic or a high-volume tattoo model. Dalrymple set it up as a private, appointment-only space with a Nordic feel, centered on one-on-one consultations and a calm setting for people who may be dealing with surgery scars, illness or other trauma. She has framed the business as woman-owned and a safe space for all, with the goal of helping clients regain a sense of wholeness and control over how they present themselves.
Dalrymple’s path to that niche stretches back decades. She began tattooing in 2000 and added permanent cosmetics in 2010. A Twin Cities native who has spent several years on the North Shore, she brought both a fine arts degree and specialized technical training to Two Harbors, including intensive study at the International Institute of Permanent Cosmetics in Costa Mesa, California. Her work includes eyebrow hair simulation, eyeliner and lip work, along with para-medical services such as scar camouflage, areola restoration after mastectomy and treatments that can help recreate the look of skin affected by vitiligo or alopecia.

That medical-adjacent work sits inside a tightly regulated field. Minnesota Department of Health guidance treats permanent makeup as a form of tattooing, and state law defines tattooing to include micropigmentation and cosmetic tattooing. The state’s body art rules require licensed technicians and licensed establishments, a framework that puts sanitation, training and facility approval at the center of any business in the category. For a Lake County customer considering scar camouflage or permanent cosmetics, the regulatory structure is part of the value proposition, because it signals that the service is meant to operate under clear public-safety standards.
Kindred Studio also arrives in a town that already had some body-art activity, with North Shore Body Art previously listed at 627 1st Ave. in Two Harbors. But Dalrymple’s shop adds a more specialized service line for clients seeking reconstructive or cosmetic restoration, a sign that small businesses in Lake County are finding room not only for general retail and dining, but also for highly targeted personal services that can keep residents from driving to the Twin Cities for care.
