Helena police seek help finding missing 12-year-old Aaron Lynn Caye

Helena police are asking for help finding 12-year-old Aaron Lynn Caye, whose state missing-person listing includes her photo and describes her as an American Indian or Alaska Native girl with black hair, brown eyes, a height of 5 feet 2 inches and a weight of 130 pounds. The Montana Department of Justice says her last known contact was April 20 in Helena.

Anyone with information should contact local law enforcement immediately or call the Montana Missing Persons Clearinghouse at (406) 444-2800. The clearinghouse also lists (406) 444-1526 for tip reporting.

The state entry lists Aaron Lynn Caye’s date of birth as Jan. 17, 2014. Helena Police Department is the investigating agency on the case, which places the search squarely in Helena and Lewis and Clark County.

Caye’s listing appears in Montana’s Missing Persons Database, a statewide system created under the Missing Children Act of 1985 and later expanded online in October 2021 when Attorney General Austin Knudsen launched an enhanced version. The database was designed to help law enforcement, schools and community members identify missing people more quickly.

The database currently lists 162 individuals statewide, including 46 who have been missing less than a year and 116 who have been missing more than a year. Caye’s case is one of the newer entries in that system, keeping the focus on an active search rather than a long-term unresolved disappearance.
