Anonymous tip leads to Sterling arrest on multiple felony warrants

An anonymous community tip helped Sterling police and Logan County sheriff’s deputies arrest one person in the 800 block of Cleveland on multiple felony warrants, including a no-bond warrant and a parole violation. The arrest also involved misdemeanor assault and domestic violence allegations, making the case one that had been circulating through local law enforcement channels before officers closed in.

The Sterling Police Department said the arrest happened after information came in through the community, underscoring how residents can play a direct role in locating people wanted on serious charges. No-bond status means the person is not automatically eligible for release on bond, and a parole violation can bring a separate hold beyond the underlying criminal allegations. Police did not release the person’s name, and they did not say whether anyone was injured.

Sterling police say their Crime Stoppers program lets witnesses and others submit tips anonymously, with cash awards ranging from $50 to $2,000 if a tip leads to an arrest and charges being filed. The department says anonymity is part of the system, giving people a way to pass along information without having to step forward publicly.
