Fleming seeks maintenance superintendent and seasonal groundskeeper by May 7
Fleming is filling two jobs by May 7, including a key maintenance post that helps keep water, power and sewage service running in the 428-person town.

The Town of Fleming is trying to fill two jobs that reach directly into daily life: a full-time Town Maintenance Superintendent/Ordinance Officer and a seasonal, part-time groundskeeper, with applications due by May 7.
In a town of 428 people in northeast Colorado, that maintenance post carries far more than a single title. Fleming’s earlier help-wanted notice said the superintendent is responsible for planning, operations and maintenance of the town’s electrical distribution, water and wastewater systems. The job also calls for a valid Commercial Driver’s License and a willingness to become certified as a water operator and wastewater operator.
That matters because Fleming’s utilities page says the town covers water, electricity and sewage, and directs utility problems to Town maintenance at 265-2262. When service issues come up, that office is the first stop. The seasonal groundskeeper opening adds another layer of responsibility as the town heads into spring and summer, when parks, rights-of-way and other public spaces typically need steady upkeep.

The hiring push comes as Fleming continues to manage utility and infrastructure work in public view. On April 6, the town said a planned power outage lasted longer than expected and that it would work with WAPA to understand why. Town council minutes from November 2025 also noted that several power poles and a row of streetlights still needed replacement. Earlier, in July 2025, council was already planning for the maintenance superintendent’s upcoming retirement eight months ahead, signaling that the staffing gap has been on the town’s radar for some time.
Fleming has also been trying to cover other operational work. In March, the town sought a part-time road grader operator for about 20 hours per month, with an April 9 deadline. Alongside those postings, the town scheduled an annual clean-up day for April 24 and its 5th annual townwide yard sale for June 6, reminders that the small public works staff helps support everything from street maintenance to community events.

Town Hall is at 114 N. Logan Ave. in Fleming, Colorado 80728. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with the office closed from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
