Sterling Arrest Made in Fatal Mobile Home Fire Case
A 28 year old man was arrested in Sterling on charges of first degree murder and arson after a mobile home fire on December 12 left one person dead. The arrest ends an intensive local manhunt and provides important information and contacts for residents who may have tips or concerns.

Police arrested Brandon Thomas Harriman, 28, on Tuesday in connection with a mobile home fire that killed one person on December 12. The Sterling Police Department said the arrest came after an intensive investigation by local and county law enforcement and fire officials following a structure fire along the 300 block of Weston Court the afternoon of December 12. Sterling officers, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Sterling Fire Department all responded to the scene where officers reported finding one person deceased inside a mobile home.
The Sterling Police Department posted on social media around 2:30 p.m. the day of the fire and initially treated the incident as a criminal matter. Investigators said they believed the individuals involved knew each other and that there was not an ongoing danger to the general public, though officers warned while searching that Harriman should be considered armed and dangerous. On Monday the department announced it had secured an arrest warrant naming Harriman as the primary suspect on charges of first degree murder and arson.
Authorities located and apprehended Harriman on Tuesday along the 500 block of Jackson Street in Sterling. Police said he was taken into custody without incident. The Sterling Police Department is working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation as the case proceeds and as investigators continue to gather evidence and piece together events leading to the fatal fire. Police said no other details were available on Tuesday afternoon.
For residents of Logan County, the case underscores both the local impact of violent incidents and the role of coordinated emergency response in a small community. Neighbors on Weston Court and surrounding streets who saw emergency vehicles or experienced temporary road closures may still have questions about safety and next steps. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Nick Cantrell with the Sterling Police Department at 970 522 3512, extension 4223. To submit anonymous information call Logan County Crime Stoppers at 970 522 3937.
Investigations like this can raise concern and grief across a community. Local officials have emphasized that they acted quickly and cooperatively, and they continue to seek public assistance to complete the inquiry and provide closure for those affected.
