LAMC Holds Free Active Lifestyles and ACLs Seminar at SALA Tomorrow
LAMC will host a free seminar at SALA on staying active and protecting joints, with orthopedic surgeon Tania Pence speaking at 6 p.m. Thursday; RSVP via SurveyMonkey is requested.

Los Alamos Medical Center will launch a new free community health seminar series with a talk on staying active and protecting knees and other joints at SALA Event Center. The session, titled "Active Lifestyles and ACLs," is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, and is the first entry in the LAMC series aimed at practical injury prevention and sports-medicine topics for local residents.
"The first talk, presented by Tania Pence, DO, Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist, is titled 'Active Lifestyles And ACLs' at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12," LAMC said in its event announcement. Dr. Tania Pence brings orthopedic and sports medicine expertise to the community; LAMC describes her as "a highly experienced surgeon who is very well-versed in caring for Northern New Mexicans."
The seminar is planned to run from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. MST and will be held at SALA Event Center, 2551 Central Ave. SALA is billed as "a vibrant community event center" and the program will include light refreshments, prizes and time to socialize. "Attendees will be able to enjoy refreshments, prizes, socialize, meet a subject matter expert and learn about their health," LAMC said.
Attendance is free, but organizers ask that individuals RSVP via SurveyMonkey. SALA's event listing notes that RSVP is required and ticket registration is available; many public event platforms list a one-hour session and ticket information for reservation. The available public notices did not include a direct SurveyMonkey link; if you plan to attend, confirm registration details with SALA or LAMC before heading out.

Beyond the seminar, Dr. Pence is accepting new patients at Los Alamos Orthopedics and Sports Medicine on the second floor at Los Alamos Medical Center. "She is welcoming new patients ages 2+ at Los Alamos Orthopedics and Sports Medicine on the second floor at LAMC," organizers said. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 505.661.9118.
Most local listings place the venue at 2551 Central Ave in Los Alamos; one aggregator included an inconsistent city line, so double-check the address if you are traveling from outside town. The seminar offers a low-barrier chance for athletes, parents, active adults and retirees to ask questions about ACL prevention, rehab basics and practical joint protection strategies without a clinic visit.
For Los Alamos residents, the event is a timely chance to connect with a local orthopedic specialist, learn simple ways to reduce injury risk and identify care options close to home. If you plan to go, RSVP as instructed, arrive early to mingle over refreshments and consider calling 505.661.9118 to book follow-up care with Dr. Pence if needed.
