Los Alamos Public Schools notified families last week after law enforcement arrested 26 year old Adrian Ferran in connection with an off campus incident involving a student that took place on December 10. The district said it was informed by police on December 19 and is cooperating as investigators determine the facts and any link between the visitor's presence on campus and the off campus incident.

Superintendent Jennifer Guy told families about "an incident that occurred off campus recently that involved some of our students and an LAPS visitor on campus." In a written message she added, "We were notified by the police department of an investigation and subsequent arrest of a 26 year old male who was charged with assaulting one of our female students off campus on December 10th. The man had been on our campus earlier that day as an approved visitor. We are working with law enforcement to investigate any connection between his presence on campus and the assault." Court filings and law enforcement charging documents identify the defendant as Adrian Ferran, charged with criminal sexual penetration of a minor and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

District officials described the visitor's on campus movements in detail. The understanding conveyed to the district was that Ferran, "a relative of a student, signed in at the high school as a visitor to a class on December 10, 2025. The visitor had prior approval from the teacher, per the request of a student, to help with a final project." The district said the visitor's identification was scanned and cleared through the Raptor system, he "went directly to the class during 2nd period where he worked with his relative on a project", was on campus for 42 minutes, left with relatives and another student at lunch, then returned with prior approval and spent 1 hour and 52 minutes assisting during third period before leaving for the day. School staff reported they actively monitored the visitor while he was on campus.

The episode has prompted the district to review visitor policies, campus access, and off campus lunch practices to determine whether changes are warranted. Current Los Alamos High School policy requires all visitors to register in the Main Office, wear a Topper badge while on campus, and sign out before leaving. For now the district has said it will keep families informed as investigators and district leaders assess next steps. Residents seeking updates are advised to follow official law enforcement and district communications for the latest verified information.
