Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial Showcases Native Dance, Culture and Pageantry
One of the nation's oldest Native cultural celebrations, first held in 1922, returns to Red Rock Park this July with dancers, rodeo, and a queen pageant.

The 104th Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial is set to bring thousands of Native American and Indigenous participants to Red Rock Park from July 31 through August 9, 2026, continuing a tradition that stretches back to September 28, 1922, when the first Ceremonial was held in Gallup.
The event, organized by the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial Association, Inc. with support from McKinley County, the City of Gallup, the State of New Mexico Tourism Department, and the Intertribal Ceremonial Office, draws tribes from across the nation to the 825 Outlaw Road venue for more than a week of dance, pageantry, rodeo, and arts. Parades through downtown Gallup anchor the schedule, with the opening night parade traditionally kicking off festivities at 7 p.m.
The Indoor/Outdoor Marketplace and Ceremonial Showroom at Red Rock Park display what organizers describe as the country's most complete and varied collection of genuine Indian fine arts, including Navajo rugs, katsinas, jewelry, pottery, and basketry. Alongside the arts, the program includes the Ceremonial Queen Pageant, an all-open rodeo with junior and ladies competitions, a film festival spotlighting Native American and Indigenous storytelling, a 5k walk/run, and an Opening Night Wine Gala.
GITICA president Kyle Tom spoke to the event's deep roots in the region when marking the Ceremonial's centennial. "The Ceremonial is a staple in our community and has been for the last century," Tom said. "With events finally returning, we couldn't be more excited to host a full schedule of activities that make the Ceremonial unique. We look forward to welcoming travelers from all over the world for this event."
Performers and delegations at past editions have included the Cellicion Zuni Dancers, the Zuni Olla Maidens, and the Navajo Song and Dance group known as the Twin Lakes Family, with the Ceremonial Rodeo drawing competitors alongside the cultural programming at Red Rock Park.
General admission costs $15 per person. The Exhibit Hall Opening Night carries a separate ticket price of $27.85 per person. Attendees are encouraged to check the official schedule before arriving, as specific event times and locations vary across the multi-day program.
