Lane closure announced on Hwy VV East near Hwy 47 in Keshena

Drivers on Hwy VV East near Hwy 47 in Keshena were warned that construction crews would be working there the next day and that one lane would be closed near the intersection.

The closure fit into a larger Wisconsin Department of Transportation project in Menominee County that covered WIS 47 from County VV to the Langlade County line and WIS 55 from WIS 47 to the Langlade County line. The work included culvert replacements and mill-and-overlay work. During culvert replacements, the highways were to be closed to traffic and routed by detour. During paving and other operations, traffic would move through single-lane closures with flagging operations.

The Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin scheduled a construction information meeting for Tuesday, July 21 at 3 p.m. at the Menominee County Highway Department, W2703 Chief Carron, Keshena, after a location change. The notice was meant to keep stakeholders informed about construction operations and traffic impacts on the WIS 47 and WIS 55 road projects.

As of June 22, WIS 47 in Menominee County was closed to through traffic from County Road VV West to the Langlade County line, and that closure was expected to last until the middle of August. Local traffic and emergency services were maintained throughout the closure.

WisDOT also held a public-involvement meeting for the WIS 47 and WIS 55 project on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the Culture Building at the College of Menominee Nation in Keshena.
