Islamorada Man Arrested After Throwing Cinder Block Chunks, Threatening Neighbor
Kenneth Wayne Brenner, 37, was arrested after allegedly throwing chunks of cinder block and shouting he would kill a female neighbor on North Ocean Lane in Islamorada around 5:15 p.m. Feb. 26.

Kenneth Wayne Brenner, 37, was taken into custody in Islamorada after deputies say he entered a neighbor’s property on North Ocean Lane, threw chunks of cinder block at a woman and screamed that he was going to kill her around 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2026, Tampa Free Press reporter Maria Hernandez wrote. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies located Brenner nearby and arrested him shortly after the 911 call, the report states.
According to the Tampa Free Press account, the female neighbor retreated into her residence and called 911 while Brenner allegedly continued to throw pieces of cinder block in her direction. The article reports that no serious injuries were reported to deputies at the scene and that emergency medical transport was not indicated in the coverage.
The arrest narrative in the Tampa Free Press includes a statement attributed to Brenner explaining his motive; he told deputies the neighbor and her husband were “using some type of machine to radiate him.” That line appears in the Tampa Free Press reporting as Brenner’s own words and is presented as his explanation, not as an established fact.
Brenner was booked on charges listed in the Tampa Free Press piece as aggravated assault, throwing a deadly missile and burglary. The article says Brenner was transported to jail following his arrest and is being held with no bond. The Tampa Free Press did not provide the name of the arresting deputy, a booking number or a scheduled court date in its coverage.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the call at the North Ocean Lane residence, per the Tampa Free Press timeline that places the response at approximately 5:15 p.m. The report reconstructs the sequence as the alleged entry and threats occurring before deputies’ arrival, the victim calling 911 from inside her home, and Brenner being located nearby and arrested shortly thereafter.
Related local law-enforcement activity posted separately on the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Florida Keys Facebook page involved a different Islamorada arrest on Feb. 20, 2026. That posting identified Jacob Edward Stogner, 22, as being arrested after deputies were called to a Flamingo Hammock Road residence at about 7:30 p.m.; MCSO reported Stogner was accused of striking a family member with a broom and threatening her with a kitchen knife, and listed charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery. The MCSO post noted the victim suffered injuries and that Stogner was taken to jail; it did not link that incident to the Brenner arrest.
As of Feb. 28, 2026, Tampa Free Press reporting indicates Brenner remains held without bond pending further court action; public court dockets and MCSO incident reports detailing evidence, property damage or a scheduled arraignment were not included in the available reporting.
