Routt, Brown County reach WIVC baseball title game in Jacksonville
Brown County and Routt reached the WIVC baseball title game in Jacksonville after big semifinal wins. Triopia and Calhoun set up the softball final at Future Champions.

Brown County and Jacksonville Routt played for the Western Illinois Valley Conference baseball title at Future Champions Sports Complex in Jacksonville after each rolled through Monday semifinals, while Triopia and Calhoun advanced to the softball championship game on the same postseason stage.
Routt beat Calhoun 10-1 to earn its place in the final, and Brown County followed with a 14-1 win over Carrollton. The baseball championship was set for 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Future Champions, giving the Brown County Hornets and the Jacksonville Routt Rockets a quick turnaround after the semifinal round. Brown County entered at 16-2-2, while Routt came in at 18-10.

The softball bracket moved just as quickly. Triopia, which entered the day at 24-0, won its semifinal and stayed unbeaten long enough to reach the title game against Calhoun. For west-central Illinois schools, the tournament concentrated several postseason races into one host city and put multiple conference programs on the same fields over two days, from the quarterfinals through the championship rounds.
That schedule also underscored how central the WIVC tournament has become for the region’s prep calendar. The Western Illinois Valley Conference is a 14-school Illinois High School Association conference that includes Beardstown, Carrollton, Concord’s Triopia program, Greenfield, Hardin’s Calhoun program, Jacksonville’s Routt Rockets, Mt. Sterling’s Brown County Hornets, Pleasant Hill, White Hall’s North Greene, Winchester and Camp Point Central. Future Champions Sports Complex had also hosted the conference’s inaugural baseball and softball tournament in 2022, making Jacksonville a familiar postseason home for the league.
The site carried added meaning after a likely tornado damaged parts of the complex in June 2025, a reminder of how much the ballfields matter to Morgan County and the surrounding area. When the games were finally decided, Brown County beat Routt 9-0 to win its first WIVC baseball tournament title, with Connor Flynn starring, and Calhoun stunned unbeaten Triopia for the softball championship, handing Triopia its first loss of the season.
