Two Men Charged With Attempted Homicide After Downtown Missoula Shooting
Laurent Mugondozi, 33, and Anthony Brodie, 36, were charged with attempted homicide after a 2 a.m. shooting left one man hospitalized in downtown Missoula Sunday.

A gunshot victim drove himself to Missoula Police Department headquarters in the early hours of Sunday morning, arriving with a bullet wound and multiple strikes to his vehicle after shots rang out on the 200 block of Ryman Street just after 2:00 a.m.
Laurent Mugondozi, 33, and Anthony Brodie, 36, were both charged with Attempted Homicide and Criminal Endangerment following the incident. The criminal endangerment charge carried added weight because uninvolved pedestrians were present in the area when the shots were fired. Mugondozi faces an additional charge of Driving Under the Influence, his third such offense.
Officers processing the Ryman Street scene recovered multiple spent shell casings. A second male was located a short distance away on the 200 block of Woody Street, where a vehicle associated with the shooting was also found; investigators recovered a handgun as part of the scene. Detectives transported the second male to MPD headquarters for an interview before charges were filed in consultation with the Missoula County Attorney's Office.
The victim was taken from MPD headquarters to St. Patrick Hospital for treatment. MPD Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett confirmed the charges in a press release.
The Sunday incident is the latest in a series of gun violence episodes in Missoula's downtown core, a pattern that has drawn sustained attention from local observers. The investigation remains active, and the Missoula Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward.
