A tractor-trailer slammed into the rear of building seven at Crystal Run Healthcare’s Goshen medical center on Hatfield Lane just before noon Wednesday, sending the driver to the hospital and turning a busy outpatient site into a major emergency scene.

Village police said the cab of the 18-wheeler had a medical event before the crash. The truck then hit a fire hydrant, struck a utility box and drove through the rear wall of the building, creating an immediate public-safety response in the Village of Goshen.

The driver was transported to the hospital for evaluation. No other injuries were reported in the available accounts, and officials had not identified the driver by name. The sequence of events left responders dealing with more than a roadway wreck: public infrastructure was damaged, and the truck breached a commercial building used for medical care during regular business hours.

A separate local report said the impact caused significant damage and a partial ceiling collapse inside the structure. Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded, including the Goshen Fire Department, Silver Lake Fire Department, Chester Fire Department, the Orange County Technical Rescue Team, New York State Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Goshen Police Department, Goshen EMS and Wallkill EMS. Their presence underscored the scale of the call and the need to assess both the driver’s condition and the building’s structural integrity.

The crash hit Crystal Run Healthcare’s 7 Hatfield Lane facility, an active medical center that lists Monday through Friday hours from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Crystal Run says it operates more than 12 locations in the Hudson Valley and lower Catskill region and offers more than 50 medical and surgical specialties, making the Goshen site part of a larger health-care network that serves patients across Orange County and beyond.

The timing, minutes before noon, put the collision squarely in the middle of the workday at a property where patients, staff and visitors regularly move through the complex. Even without a full accounting of building access or service interruptions, the crash raised immediate concerns about how quickly a medical emergency behind the wheel can spill into a property-damage crisis at a crowded health-care site.
