Perry Central Jr.-Sr. High School in Leopold is lining up three spring action items for families: a phone book drive that supports Family Outreach, applications for We the Youth of Perry County, and athletic physicals for the 2026-27 school year.

The PSC phone book drive runs through Thursday, May 7. Every collected phone book sends 50 cents to Family Outreach, with the money going to the School Supply Bank. Books can be sent in with students or dropped off at any office, giving families a simple way to clear out old directories while helping keep school supplies moving to Perry County students who need them.

At the same time, Perry Central has opened applications for We the Youth of Perry County for current eighth graders who plan to enter as freshmen next school year. The application window stays open until May 30, but the school says it may close early if the class reaches capacity. Students and caregivers have already received the email with the application link, signaling that the program is aimed at a specific incoming class, not the wider public.

Athletics come next on the calendar. Perry Central will host athletic physicals on April 21 in the fieldhouse, and the cost is $5.00. The school says every student who plans to participate in athletics must have a physical dated after April 1, 2026, for the 2026-27 school year. Forms will be available beginning Monday, April 13, and the school asks families to keep the paperwork flat and in good condition, not folded, stained or torn, for the physician.

The schedule is set by grade level: current grades 4, 5 and 6 are scheduled for 4:00 p.m., current grades 7, 8 and 9 for 4:30 p.m., and current grades 10 and 11 for 5:00 p.m. The physical requirement lines up with Indiana High School Athletic Association Rule 3-10, which requires a physical between April 1 and a student’s first practice for interschool athletic participation. Perry Central lists football, cross country, volleyball, basketball, track, baseball, softball and golf among its sports, so the April 21 date affects a wide range of families.

The school’s spring calendar also includes the Princess and Knights Dance for preschool through sixth grade, hosted by Business Professionals of America, along with junior high basketball and football cheer tryouts on Monday, April 27 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Dome. Family Outreach, coordinated by Joyce Foury, says it builds programs around what parents say they need, including the school supply bank and food drives, and that makes this stretch of April a practical checkpoint for Leopold families preparing for the months ahead.
