Perry County Jobapalooza connects job seekers with local employers

Waupaca, Mulzer and Trilogy Health Services are among the employers expected to meet job seekers at Perry County Jobapalooza, a hiring event scheduled Thursday, Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Schergens Center, 1140 31st Street in Tell City. Officials say multiple employers have already registered, giving the fair a mix of manufacturing, construction or materials-related work, and healthcare openings rather than a one-industry lineup.

Southwest Indiana Workforce and WorkOne are hosting the event with the Perry County Development Corporation, a partnership that ties the job fair to both hiring and broader workforce development in the county. Southwest Indiana Workforce describes itself as a business-led collaborative focused on developing and connecting talent to regional businesses, and WorkOne’s Region 11 Southwest covers Perry County along with Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties.

The format is meant to make the day easier to walk into and more useful once people get there. Free haircuts will be provided, and the first 50 people through the door will receive a free lunch. Those details matter because they turn the event into more than a table-and-resume stop; they also give job seekers a practical reason to come prepared, meet recruiters and move quickly toward an application or interview.

Perry County Memorial Hospital is also backing the effort, with Southwest Indiana Workforce thanking the hospital for sponsoring this year’s Jobapalooza. That local support fits the event’s larger purpose in Tell City: putting employers, workforce staff and residents in the same room for a few hours instead of making them search across separate offices and websites for the next step.
