Tell City school board approves updated administrative contracts

The Tell City-Troy Township School Corp board approved updated administrative contracts, putting new leadership and pay terms into the district’s public record. The corporation’s central office at 837 17th Street in Tell City maintains a Board of Education page and a Contracts and Policies section online, and its filings show a 2024-25 salary range of $49,000.00 to $80,085.00 for the master contract.

The district also posted a notice for a June 9, 2026 public hearing on a superintendent contract, scheduled during the regular school board meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the Tell City Jr.Sr. High School Media Center. That notice said the full proposed contract addendum and a summary of benefits were available in the Current Meetings section of the school website, making the superintendent agreement part of the public paper trail rather than a private personnel deal.

The timing matched a leadership transition at the top of the corporation. John Scioldo was introduced as Tell City-Troy Township School Corp’s new superintendent after Lynn Blinzinger retired following three years in the post, and Scioldo was set to take over July 1. Before coming to Tell City, Scioldo had served as principal at Van Duyn Elementary School in the South Vermillion School Corporation.

Scioldo’s background in school administration stretches back years. A 2014 report identified him as principal of Van Duyn Elementary School in Clinton, Indiana, and said he previously worked as principal at Central Elementary School, assistant principal at South Vermillion High School, and science teacher and department chair at South Vermillion High School. That history gives the Tell City board a superintendent with experience inside smaller Indiana districts, a detail that matters when contract language can affect how long a leader serves, what duties come with the job and how the corporation manages compensation.

For Perry County taxpayers, the significance is in the public process. The board’s action, the posted hearing notice and the district’s contract documents show Tell City-Troy Township School Corp handling leadership changes through formal records, with salary ranges, contract terms and benefits all placed in view at the same time the district moved into a new administrative chapter.
