Perry County fans at Dale Alexander Field watched Hazard’s offense go quiet in a 7-0 shutout, with Greeneville turning a 2-0 start into a rout by scoring five runs in the third inning of the Buddy Hawk Classic.

The loss dropped Hazard to 9-11 and marked its biggest defeat since March 28. Hazard managed only two hits, and Ross Logan was responsible for one of them, going 1-for-2 with a double. For a lineup that could not crack Greeneville’s pitching, the immediate fix is clear: Hazard has to start getting runners on base early instead of trying to climb back after an opponent controls the first few innings.

Greeneville did exactly that. The Greene Devils scored twice in the first two innings, then broke the game open with the five-run third to put the result away. Kase Spradlen drove in three runs, Will Harmon added two singles and an RBI, and Jaxon Winter, Maddox Bishop, Kaine Ricker and Spradlen each doubled in the nine-hit attack.

Silar Lewis earned the win by working 4.1 innings, allowing two hits, striking out four and walking two. Aiden Freeland finished the last 1.2 innings and struck out three more Hazard hitters, closing the door on any late rally. Greeneville’s pitching backed up a weekend in which the Greene Devils shut down opponents from start to finish.

The win was Greeneville’s third of the weekend in the Buddy Hawk Classic, and the Greene Devils outscored their three opponents 28-1. They opened the day with a 10-0 win over East Hamilton in five innings before beating Hazard. Greeneville entered the Hazard game at 28-7 and stretched its winning streak to three games, while Hazard left with a reminder of how fast one rough inning can change everything.
