Hazard Softball Wins Seventh Straight Road Game, Blanks Jenkins 3-0
Peyton Fields struck out 10 and Maggie Combs went 2-for-2 as Hazard softball blanked Jenkins 3-0 Wednesday, stretching the Lady Bulldogs' road win streak to seven straight.

Senior pitcher Peyton Fields struck out ten Jenkins batters and allowed just five hits across seven full innings Wednesday, anchoring the Hazard Lady Bulldogs to a 3-0 shutout at Jenkins and pushing the program's road win streak to seven consecutive games.
Fields kept the Cavaliers scoreless from the first inning through the last, her ability to generate swing-and-miss pitches proving the decisive factor in what became a true pitcher's duel. The result was a notable departure in style from Hazard's usual road output; across the seven-game streak, the Bulldogs had averaged eight runs per game, making Wednesday's lean three-run margin an outlier in production but not in outcome.
Maggie Combs delivered the most productive offensive line of any Hazard hitter, going 2-for-2 with a stolen base and a run scored. It was the most hits by a single Hazard player in a game since April 2025. Four Bulldogs recorded at least one hit on the afternoon, spreading the offensive responsibility and preventing Jenkins from concentrating on any one batter in the lineup.

With the victory, Hazard improved to 7-4 on the season, a record that positions the Bulldogs to pursue more favorable seeding in district and regional postseason play if the current trajectory holds through a tougher mid-April schedule. Fields' consistency has become central to that postseason argument. Heading into Wednesday's game, she had not allowed more than one earned run in four straight outings, a stretch of reliability that tends to carry significant weight when playoff pairings are decided.
The road win streak itself dates to the previous season, making it one of the more sustained stretches of away-game dominance in the region. The next test with direct local stakes is an upcoming matchup against Perry County Central, a county rivalry that will draw its own measuring-stick significance for a Hazard squad that has now won seven straight outside of its own gym.
