Noble’s 12 strikeouts lift Hazard to 1-0 win over Estill County

A one-hit shutout from Sami Noble carried Hazard to a 1-0 road win over Estill County, the kind of low-scoring result that showed the Bulldogs can still survive when the offense does not do much. Noble struck out 12 and never let the Engineers string together enough contact to crack the game open, turning one run into all Hazard needed.

The win gave Hazard a needed response after its district title loss to Perry County Central. Hazard had fallen 4-0 to the Commodores in the 54th District championship on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and Perry County Central also had beaten the Bulldogs 12-1 in April. Against Estill County, Hazard played with far more control, striking out only twice while Estill County fanned 12 times.

Noble’s outing fit the pattern she has built over the final stretch of the season. MaxPreps listed her with a 1.98 ERA and seven wins, and noted that she had not allowed more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. That command mattered on Monday, when Hazard did not need a big offensive night to win a game that stayed tight from start to finish.

Hazard had four hitters record at least one hit, and Halle Jones delivered the key run production with a 1-for-3 night that included a stolen base and an RBI. The Bulldogs improved to 20-11 with their fourth win in five games, and over that five-game stretch they allowed just 2.8 runs per game. MaxPreps also listed Hazard at No. 85 in Kentucky and No. 3 in its region, a ranking that reflected a team still positioned to matter as the postseason approached.

The victory also snapped Hazard’s three-game skid in the matchup with Estill County. The Bulldogs had lost the previous three meetings, including a 4-1 Estill County win in May 2023, and Monday’s result finally flipped that recent trend. For Hazard, the 1-0 finish was more than a close win. It was a reminder that Sami Noble’s arm and a clean defense could still make the Bulldogs dangerous in the tightest games.
