Perry County Central Baseball Falls 10-5 to Breathitt County, Drops to 1-1

Breathitt County erupted for five runs in the fifth inning to pull away from visiting Perry County Central, handing the Commodores a 10-5 defeat Thursday night in Jackson and dropping them to 1-1 on the young season.

The Bobcats entered the fifth leading by just a run, but the decisive frame proved unmanageable for the Commodores and pushed Breathitt to a commanding position it would not relinquish. Breathitt added two more in the sixth to close out the scoring at 10-5, finishing the non-conference contest with 10 runs on just 5 hits and zero errors.

Perry County Central actually out-hit the Bobcats on the night, collecting 12 hits compared to Breathitt's 5, but four Commodore errors proved costly and the hit totals did not translate into runs. Central scored twice in the first inning, then added single runs in the third, fifth, and sixth before going quiet in the seventh.

Both teams now sit at 1-1. Breathitt County returned to action Friday, hosting Lee County out of Beattyville in another non-conference matchup. The two district rivals are scheduled to meet again when Breathitt makes the trip to Hazard on April 24.
