Darnell Demond Levy Jr., 21, and Paul Thomas Baylor III, 21, both listed as Bowie residents in Prince George’s County, were arrested after Maryland State Police troopers found five ghost guns, about 600 rounds of ammunition, a 3D printer actively printing a Glock fire-control unit and a live improvised explosive device in a Cresaptown residence on Feb. 19, state police said.

Troopers from the Cumberland Barrack responded to a firearms complaint at the 13000 block of Tulip Street in Cresaptown near Cumberland and, as they arrived, reportedly heard a gunshot. Officers observed a firearm lying on the ground outside the home and made contact with two people outside before executing a search warrant at the residence, according to the announcement from state police.

Searches inside the home produced five unserialized firearms commonly described as ghost guns and roughly 600 rounds of ammunition. Investigators located a 3D printer that was actively printing what state police described as a fire-control unit for a Glock-type pistol, and bomb technicians found a live homemade explosive device inside the kitchen, authorities said.

A bomb squad from the Office of the State Fire Marshal responded, confirmed the device was live, and rendered the improvised explosive device safe before removing it from the residence without incident, state police reported. The involvement of the State Fire Marshal’s bomb technicians followed standard protocol for on-scene explosive threats in Allegany County.

Levy and Baylor were taken into custody and booked into the Allegany County Detention Center, where both men are being held without bond, state police said. Charges listed by authorities include possession of a firearm without a serial number, carrying a loaded handgun on a person, reckless endangerment and other related offenses; state police said additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Maryland State Police said the investigation into the Cresaptown incident remains ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about the exact ammunition total, calibers, or whether federal agencies are assisting; state police and the Allegany County Detention Center are listed as the lead local points of contact for booking and charging information.
