Bowie Workforce Training Center Opens to Support Local Jobseekers
The City of Bowie's Workforce Training Center, launched November 12, 2025 at the Kenhill Center, provides local residents with computer-equipped job and resource services through a partnership with Employ Prince George’s. The center's hours, training programs and a resident survey to shape 2026 offerings aim to expand access to resume help, online classes and career seminars that matter to jobseekers, students and entrepreneurs across Prince George's County.

The City of Bowie Office of Grant Development & Administration, in partnership with Employ Prince George’s (EPG), opened a Workforce Training Center (WTC) at the Kenhill Center following a grand opening on November 12, 2025. Designed as an American Job Center Community Network (AJCCN) Jobs and Resource lab, the WTC provides computer terminals for resume work, online classes and job searches and links residents to workforce development programming.
The center operates on a weekly schedule to accommodate a range of needs: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m., and Thursdays from 12 to 4 p.m. In addition to drop-in access, the WTC hosts Summer Career Seminars focused on STEM fields, innovation and entrepreneurship, and the municipal page includes recordings of prior sessions for those unable to attend live events. Residents seeking more information or assistance can contact the program at worktraining@cityofbowie.org.
City officials and EPG built the WTC to give Prince George’s County residents a local point of entry into broader workforce services offered through the AJCCN network. For a county with a diverse population and a range of employment backgrounds, the center aims to reduce digital barriers, strengthen resumes, and expose jobseekers to career pathways that intersect with technology and small business development.
Planners are soliciting resident input to shape the WTC’s 2026 programming. The municipal page invites community members to complete a survey to guide next year’s schedule and offerings and currently posts the notice, "Check back for 2026 program information!" That page also provides Grand Opening/R.S.V.P details and serves as a hub for updates and recordings of past seminars.

Local implications extend beyond individual job searches. The WTC’s emphasis on STEM and entrepreneurship seminars supports workforce pipelines that feed local employers and small businesses, and its AJCCN affiliation connects residents to state and regional resources. The center’s limited weekday hours may present scheduling challenges for some shift workers and caregivers, making the posted recordings and future scheduling choices important to expanding access.
As Bowie moves forward with this municipal workforce initiative, the WTC represents a practical tool for residents seeking training, digital access and career guidance. Those interested in services, recordings or the resident survey can reach out directly via the program email to learn about upcoming classes and entry points into countywide employment supports.
