Greenbelt Officer Completes DoorDash Delivery After Pulling Over Unlicensed Driver
A Greenbelt officer pulled over a DoorDash driver with no license, then finished her delivery himself — bodycam footage shows him knocking on the customer's door.

A Greenbelt Police Department officer turned a Tuesday night traffic stop into an unlikely delivery run last week, stepping in to complete a DoorDash order after discovering the driver behind the wheel of a white Toyota Prius had no valid driver's license.
The stop began when the officer spotted the Prius traveling on the wrong side of the roadway in Greenbelt. During the stop, the driver told the officer she was working a DoorDash shift but could not produce a valid license. Rather than immediately tow the vehicle, the officer allowed her to move the Prius to a legal parking spot so it would not pose a traffic hazard, with the possibility of a tow to follow.
The delivery, however, was still pending. When the driver raised the question of her waiting customer, the officer took the order and walked it to the customer's door himself.
Body-worn camera footage released by the department captures the moment in full: the officer approaching the home, knocking, and handing off the food before returning to finish handling the stop. The customer, surprised to find a uniformed officer at the door, was thankful once the situation was explained.

The Greenbelt Police Department posted the footage to social media, where it drew significant attention on Facebook. Commenters called the gesture "top notch" and "amazing," with one writing that "policing is more than locking people up." The department confirmed what viewers were questioning: "Yes… the officer really delivered the DoorDash. What began as a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a moment of community policing in action."
In a separate post, the department framed the officer's call as one of judgment rather than policy: "Sometimes policing means enforcement. Sometimes it means discretion. And sometimes it means making sure someone still gets their dinner."
Whether the driver faces citations for operating without a license or for driving on the wrong side of the road remains unresolved. It is also unclear whether the Prius was ultimately towed. The officer involved has not been publicly identified by the department.
