Hyattsville Man Dies Days After Moped Collides With Pickup in Brentwood

Edwin Castillo-Jiminez, 28, of Hyattsville died three days after his moped struck a pickup truck at Bladensburg Road and 40th Place in Brentwood just after 10:20 p.m. on March 14, making him the latest fatality on a stretch of road that cuts through one of Prince George's County's most densely traveled corridors.
Prince George's County Police said Castillo-Jiminez lost control of the moped and collided with the pickup truck. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died on March 17. No one inside the pickup truck was reported hurt.
The preliminary investigation suggests the cause of the loss of control remains unknown. "For reasons now under investigation, Castillo-Jiminez lost control of his moped and collided with a pickup truck," police said in the account relayed through investigators. The department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit has taken over the case, assigned under case number 26-0013144, and investigators are continuing to work to determine what caused the 28-year-old to lose control.

No charges or citations have been reported in connection with the crash. The identity of the pickup truck driver has not been released.
