Laurel Man Charged in Fatal Killing of His Mother at Home
Prince George’s County police charged 22-year-old Fredy Grijalva-Hernandez with first-degree murder after officers found his 44-year-old mother, Maria Hernandez-Gonzalez, fatally injured during a welfare check in unincorporated Laurel. Prince George’s County Police say the Homicide Unit has charged 22-year-old Fredy Grijalva-Hernandez of Laurel with first-degree murder and related offenses in the death of his mother, 44-year-old Maria Hernandez-Gonzalez. Officers responded to a welfare check on December 27, 2025, at approximately 11:50 p.m. in the 8100 block of Gorman Avenue in the county’s unincorporated Laurel area and located the victim suffering from trauma. Despite life-saving measures, she was pronounced dead at the residence.
Patrol officers who were at the scene located and placed Grijalva-Hernandez in custody without incident. Prince George’s County police said the preliminary investigation indicates the suspect murdered his mother during a dispute.
