PGCC Hosts National Public Health Week Events Focused on Maternal Health Equity
A free health fair at PGCC's Largo campus on April 11 will connect Prince George's County residents with local providers and public health agencies focused on maternal health equity.

Prince George's Community College is bringing together students, health professionals, and community partners across National Public Health Week, April 6–12, to tackle one of the county's most pressing concerns: maternal health equity.
The week-long programming, organized under the theme "Ready, Set, Action!," will culminate in a Community Resource Health Fair on Saturday, April 11, running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at PGCC's Largo campus. The fair will draw local health care providers, community-based organizations, and public health agencies under one roof to offer free resources, health education, and information on services available throughout Prince George's County.
PGCC framed the initiative as an extension of the college's ongoing work in community engagement, workforce development, and addressing health disparities — three priorities the college has long cited as central to its mission in the county. Serving nearly 25,000 individuals annually, PGCC positions itself as the first choice for higher education among county residents, and the National Public Health Week programming reflects an effort to extend that reach beyond the classroom.

The college announced the event series on March 19, presenting the week as an opportunity to foster what it described as "meaningful dialogue" and connect individuals to critical resources. No specific speakers, panelists, or participating organizations were named in the announcement, and details on whether pre-registration is required have not yet been released.
