Prince George's Planning Board Sets April Meeting Schedule, Updates In-Person Location
Starting tomorrow, the Planning Board moves in-person testimony from Metro-accessible Largo to a Riverdale parks building, with no reopening date set for Largo.

Ongoing construction at M-NCPPC's Largo headquarters will push April's Planning Board hearings to a Riverdale address without Metro access starting tomorrow, a shift that changes how and whether some county residents can testify in person on zoning and development decisions.
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission announced March 25 that the Prince George's County Planning Board will relocate its in-person meeting option from 1616 McCormick Drive in Largo to the M-NCPPC Parks and Recreation Administration Building at 6600 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale. The Largo headquarters is closed for building construction, and no reopening date has been set.
The distinction in location is not trivial for residents who rely on transit. The Largo campus sits within walking distance of the Largo Town Center Metro station on the Blue and Silver lines. The Kenilworth Avenue building is not served by Metro; the Purple Line through Riverdale Park remains under construction and not yet operational. For residents traveling from communities across the county without a car, reaching a 10 a.m. Thursday hearing now requires navigating bus routes rather than a direct train.
Virtual attendance remains available via Microsoft Teams or a phone bridge, and residents may register to speak remotely or submit written testimony ahead of any hearing. But in-person appearance at Planning Board sessions carries weight that is difficult to replicate through a phone bridge, particularly on active applications involving affordable housing, senior housing projects, and transit-corridor rezonings that are pending before the board this spring.
The April schedule runs every Thursday at 10 a.m.: April 2, April 9, April 16, April 23, and April 30. The five-member board, which recently seated new members Brittany Jenkins and Lori Matthews and convened an emergency meeting on March 20, oversees zoning map amendments, site plan reviews, subdivision approvals, and master plan updates affecting communities from Bowie to College Park to Upper Marlboro.

Agendas are posted weekly at pgplanningboard.org, and the Planning Department's PGAtlas tool at pgplanning.org allows residents to map the geographic boundaries of pending applications before appearing. Questions may be directed to 301-952-3560 or publicaffairs@ppd.mncppc.org; Maryland Relay 711 is available for hearing-impaired residents.
