IKEA Rockwall set to open May 13, bringing smaller-format store to I-30 corridor
IKEA Rockwall opens May 13 at 1801 E Interstate 30, adding 6,000 products, 3,800 takeaway items and more retail pull to the I-30 corridor.

IKEA Rockwall will open its doors May 13 at 1801 E Interstate 30, giving Rockwall County shoppers a smaller-format store with more than 6,000 products, over 3,800 items available for immediate takeaway and planning help for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms and compact living spaces.
The new 108,875-square-foot, single-level store puts a scaled-down version of the Swedish retailer on one of the most visible stretches of the Interstate 30 corridor, a move that strengthens Rockwall’s position as a retail stop for drivers moving between Dallas and East Texas. IKEA says the location is designed to be closer to home and easier to reach from major highways connecting Dallas with Texarkana and Little Rock.

For shoppers, the difference from a full-size IKEA will be practical. The Rockwall store is a small-format location, but it still will offer online and in-store planning services, click-and-collect order pickup, a Swedish Bistro and an As-is section for discounted items. Larger purchases such as sofas and beds will be available through delivery or pickup, keeping the store focused on convenience rather than warehouse-scale browsing.
IKEA U.S. interim chief executive Rob Olson said the Rockwall opening is the company’s first ground-up build since 2019, a signal the brand sees continued demand in North Texas. Market manager Ben Sandoval said the company wants to be a trusted partner for local families by offering affordable, well-designed solutions for everyday life at home.
The opening also ties the retail project to the community. IKEA has announced a $10,000 donation to the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County, which describes itself as an interagency, multidisciplinary partnership focused on intervention, hope, healing and abuse prevention.
The timeline has shifted several times as construction moved forward. IKEA first said in November 2024 that the Rockwall store would open in December 2025, then later said it was slated for early 2026 before settling on the May 13 date. That delay only underscores how closely watched the project has become along I-30, where retail growth continues to track population growth and strong traffic visibility.

Opening-day festivities begin at 8 a.m., with customers able to line up as early as 7 a.m. The Rockwall Chamber of Commerce has also listed a 9:30 a.m. grand opening celebration at the store and asked guests to RSVP by May 8. For Rockwall, the store adds another major destination and another sign that development is still moving east along the corridor.
