Major Overnight and Daytime Closures Impact I 30 and Frontage Roads

Rockwall County published a detailed traffic advisory on November 28 announcing a slate of daytime and overnight closures and lane restrictions on and near Interstate 30 and adjacent frontage roads. Contractor crews were scheduled to carry out operations in several locations across the county.

The advisory specified scheduled closures of John King Boulevard U turns during both daytime and overnight windows, along with full overnight closures for certain John King bridge activities. Crews were to conduct daytime flagging operations on FM 548 at Pond Branch. Overnight work was scheduled on I 30 westbound lanes between Erby Campbell Road and FM 3549, and frontage road flagging was planned between FM 551 and Erby Campbell Road. The county noted that contractor teams would coordinate with emergency services to maintain access for emergencies while work was underway.

These operations were concentrated on corridors that carry local commuting traffic as well as regional freight moving between Rockwall County and the Dallas area. The timing and location of closures meant residents who commute on Interstate 30, use frontage roads, or travel to schools and businesses near John King Boulevard likely faced delays and temporary reroutes during the scheduled windows.
