McLendon-Chisholm Road Improvement Project Set to Begin March 16
Construction on Connie Lane and Smith Road begins March 16, with nearly 2 miles of asphalt reclamation work expected to wrap by May 18.

Construction crews are set to break ground on Connie Lane and Smith Road in McLendon-Chisholm on Wednesday, March 16, with work expected to continue through May 18, weather permitting.
The City of McLendon-Chisholm posted details of the Smith Road and Connie Lane Improvement Project on March 9, outlining a two-street effort that will tackle roughly two miles of roadway in total. Work begins on Connie Lane, where crews will cover approximately 4,000 linear feet, before shifting to Smith Road for an additional 6,000 linear feet. Both streets sit adjacent to FM 550, near City Hall at 1371 West FM 550.
The scope of work includes asphalt road reclamation and the installation of a 3-inch asphalt overlay to improve ride quality and extend the service life of the pavement. Road reclamation involves grinding and reprocessing existing pavement material before the new overlay is applied, a method that stabilizes the road base rather than simply paving over deteriorated surface.
Drivers on both streets should expect significant disruptions during active construction phases. The roadways will be limited to one-way traffic, with the opposite direction fully closed, and traffic control signage and personnel will be in place throughout the duration of the project. Residents living along the affected streets will keep driveway access, and trash and recycling collection will continue on normal schedules.
"The City appreciates the community's patience as these important roadway improvements are completed," the advisory states. "Once finished, the upgraded asphalt surface will enhance safety, improve drivability, and preserve the integrity of these neighborhood roadways for years to come."
The city has not released the name of the contractor performing the work, nor has it published an estimated project cost or specific daily work hours. Residents with questions can reach the city at (972) 524-2077 or visit City Hall at 1371 West FM 550. City Hall operates Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is closed Fridays.
