Rockwall County offices closed for Christmas and New Year holidays
Rockwall County announced holiday closures for county offices over Christmas and New Year, affecting the County Clerk, Tax Office, Library, Elections Office and other county services. Residents should note specific closure times, the Tax Office vehicle registration address, and when normal business resumes to avoid delays.

Rockwall County government offices observed scheduled closures around the Christmas holiday and announced upcoming closures for New Year services, impacting residents who needed in person assistance for records, vehicle registration, library access and election related business. The County Clerk, Tax Office, Rockwall County Library and Elections Office followed the county schedule that closed offices on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and will also close for New Year observance.
The County Clerk closed early at 3 00 p.m. on Wednesday December 23 and remained closed on Thursday December 24 and Friday December 25 for the Christmas holiday. Normal business hours resumed on Friday December 26. The clerk will close early again at 3 00 p.m. on Wednesday December 31 and will be closed on Thursday January 1 for New Year observance, with normal hours returning on Friday January 2.
The Rockwall County Tax Office vehicle registration operations were closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year Day. The Tax Office vehicle registration location is 1101 E. Yellow Jacket Lane, Suite 110, Rockwall, TX 75087. Vehicle registration services resumed normal business hours on the Friday after Christmas and will resume again after New Year Day on the following Friday.
The Rockwall County Library closed on Wednesday December 24 and Thursday December 25 for Christmas and reopened at 9 00 a.m. on Friday December 26. The library will also be closed on Thursday January 1 for New Year and will reopen at 9 00 a.m. on Friday January 2.
The Elections Office was closed on December 24 and 25. County officials noted that all other Rockwall County government offices were closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year Day, so residents needing county services should plan for limited in person availability on those dates.
For residents this meant delaying non urgent trips to county buildings, confirming office hours before visiting and using online services where available for routine tasks. The holiday schedule reflects common public sector practice during major holidays, balancing staff time off with continuity of essential services. With New Year closures approaching, plan ahead and verify hours to avoid last minute service interruptions.
