Rockwall County warns of fake sheriff's office website, phone numbers
A fake Rockwall County Sheriff's Office site used a .org address and bogus phone numbers, prompting officials to point residents to the real county domain and 972-204-7001.

Rockwall County warned residents May 13 that scammers had built a fake Rockwall County Sheriff's Office website and attached false phone numbers, a move that could steer people away from real law-enforcement help and into an impersonation scheme. The fraudulent page used a .org address, while the official county site remains rockwallcountytexas.com.
The county said residents should verify any sheriff’s office contact information before sharing personal details, following instructions, or returning a call. Officials published the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number, 972-204-7001, as the direct way to confirm they are reaching the real agency. The county’s official law-enforcement directory also lists the Sheriff’s Office at 972 T L Townsend Drive in Rockwall, Texas 75087, with 911 as the emergency number.

The warning matters because the scam is not just about a bad web page. A convincing fake site can capture people who are searching online for help with crashes, suspicious activity, civil matters or other non-emergency issues, then send them to a bogus number or a fake contact form. County officials said residents should be cautious if anyone claiming to represent the sheriff’s office asks for personal information, money or immediate action.
The latest alert came amid a run of impersonation scams in Rockwall County. On April 30, county officials warned that callers were pretending to be deputies, claiming residents had missed jury duty or had warrants, and demanding payment through Bitcoin, gift cards or wire transfers. On Dec. 5, 2025, the county issued another scam warning after callers claimed to be deputies and demanded cash, gift cards or cryptocurrency.
Earlier county guidance has said impostors often spoof caller ID and may pose as sheriff’s offices, police departments or third-party monitoring companies. The county has also said its agency will never demand payment by phone. Together, those warnings show a pattern of public-safety impersonation that now extends from phone calls to a fake sheriff’s office website, making careful verification through the county’s official contact information essential for Rockwall County residents.
