Rockwall High School student arrested after alleged threat to campus

Rockwall police arrested a Rockwall High School student after a late-night report of a possible threat against the campus that investigators said included texts with pictures of plastic pellet guns. Police said the alert came in Thursday night at about 11:30 p.m., and the student was accused of threatening to shoot up the school.

The case gained urgency after students at Rockwall High School told staff members about threatening comments from a classmate. In the same response, a school resource officer removed a knife, and officers later found a list of other students’ names, according to the details shared about the arrest. Those facts put the response squarely in the hands of both school security and Rockwall Police Department investigators.

Rockwall ISD has built out a safety structure that includes Security and Emergency Management and school resource officers on campuses, along with a student handbook and a student code of conduct that govern behavior and discipline. In a case like this, that structure is the first line for sorting a classroom rumor, an alarming comment, or a credible threat that has to be handed to law enforcement.
