Two ticketed dinners at VineCrafters Winery on Shady Creek Lane, priced at $60 per seat, will mark Rockwall's most concrete local tie to the nation's 250th anniversary when Le Cordon Bleu Paris-trained chef Karl Wilhelm takes over the kitchen on April 18 and April 25.

The first event, "An Evening with Benjamin Franklin," runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 18, and layers historical performance into a formal supper. Interpretive actor Darren York will portray Franklin throughout the evening while Wilhelm's kitchen produces a curated menu meant to reflect the culinary spirit of early America. The date carries its own historical weight: April 18 marks the 251st anniversary of Paul Revere's ride.

The second dinner, "Stars Over the Vineyard: An American Supper," moves outdoors Saturday, April 25, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. That event draws its inspiration from 1898, when the United States stepped assertively onto the world stage, pairing Wilhelm's ingredient-driven cooking with live performance by Roberto Granados, the classical Spanish guitarist behind Flamenca Manzanilla.

Wilhelm brings credentials uncommon to the east Dallas suburbs: his training began at Le Cordon Bleu Paris before he joined the kitchen at the Hotel Kempinski Four Seasons Munich. He later worked the Dallas restaurant circuit as sous chef at Chamberlain's Fish Market Grill and as executive chef at a private club. Both posts inform his stated approach of blending classical European discipline with locally sourced, approachable cuisine.

VineCrafters, the Estevez family's boutique winery at 146 Shady Creek Lane, built its reputation on Texas wines with limited additives and a small-venue hosting model that covers tasting-room visits, private weddings and corporate gatherings. The Patriotic Dinner Series extends that model toward a nationally resonant occasion, giving the Estevez family a programming hook with pull well beyond Rockwall County.

Tickets for each dinner are $60 and available at VineCrafters.com, where the winery also offers a combined-package discount for guests booking both nights. Given the boutique scale of the venue, seats are limited.
