Bowdoin Student Government Holds Elections, Plans for Ivies Weekend
BSG President Alex Kruse '26 launched voting for Bowdoin's next executive slate Thursday, with results due Monday as campus plans E-host recruitment for Ivies weekend.

Voting for Bowdoin Student Government's 2026-27 executive slate opened Thursday morning after BSG President Alex Kruse '26 formally kicked off the election process at Wednesday evening's meeting in Mills Hall, with results set to be announced Monday after the four-day window closes Sunday.
The ballot covers president, vice president, treasurer, and charterer. The executive race is the first of two election phases: candidacy statements for class council and committee chair positions are due the following Sunday, with those elections running April 10-13. Beginning April 20, students can apply for general representative positions, creating a staggered transition just as the semester enters its final weeks.
Vice President Harper Stevenson '27 shifted the meeting toward Ivies weekend, recruiting E-host volunteers and offering a water bottle and gift card as compensation for those who sign up. Stevenson also reported that BSG had been surveying students living in Brunswick Apartments about alternative, non-athletic programming during the busy weekend. Past years have featured shuttles to the Schiller Coastal Studies Center; survey responses this year favored BSG-funded transportation to Portland by bus or train.
Treasury chair Chase Lenk '26 reminded student clubs to submit fixed budgets for the 2026-27 academic year and said any remaining funds would be directed toward equipment and gear purchases before the budget cycle resets at the end of June.
Academic Affairs chair Giovanna Parnoff '28 reported that her committee was working to install two "Bricks," devices designed to temporarily restrict phone notifications and apps, in campus study spaces. Parnoff also described ongoing coordination with the Office of Student Aid to prioritize textbook funding for international students.
Taken together, the meeting reflected a student government operating in two registers at once: closing out the current year's finances and elections while pushing forward initiatives on digital wellness and student equity that will carry into the fall.
