Three sisters from Richmond who once worked the espresso machines at Starbucks have graduated their family coffee business from a mobile trailer to a Main Street storefront, opening Morning Moose Coffee's first brick-and-mortar cafe at 11 Main Street in Topsham.

The Beall-Winokurzew family, which includes sisters Lindsay Beall, Elise Winokurzew, and Olivia Winokurzew along with Lindsay's husband Daniel Beall, held a grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 28. The shop was packed wall to wall with community members from the moment the doors opened, with Matt from 92 Moose and WJBQ stopping by to mark the occasion.

The four owners launched their first mobile location in Richmond in 2022, building a loyal following through the coffee trailers before making the leap to a permanent address. On opening day, repeat customers from Richmond showed up alongside first-timers drawn in by the cafe's Maine-themed signature lattes: the Popham Palm, the Blueberry Bliss, and the Kennebec Kicker. The menu also includes cold foam-topped cold brews, fair food-style mini donuts, and various breakfast bites.

Daniel said the move into a permanent space has brought the business philosophy into sharper focus. "When they say 'do what you love, and you never work a day in your life,' I finally see what that phrase means," he said. He hopes every visit delivers what he calls a "Moose Moment," which he describes as "a little moment of joy that makes their day better." To get there, he said his instruction to staff is direct: "Treat every single customer special, go above and beyond, because we want to make life-long customers."

Morning Moose Coffee in Topsham is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The ownership team is also planning event nights at the Topsham location and is preparing to open a second corporate location at the Unum headquarters in Portland this spring.
