STARC Systems has turned Brunswick Landing into a bigger manufacturing bet, opening a 107,000-square-foot plant that more than doubles the company’s production capacity and gives one of Sagadahoc County’s fastest-growing industrial employers room to keep hiring.

The grand opening took place Tuesday, May 19, at the new Brunswick facility, where STARC said the building is purpose-built to expand production capacity and streamline logistics. The company had been operating from a much smaller 45,000-square-foot space, according to WGME, making the new site a major jump in scale for a business whose reusable wall systems are used in healthcare facilities, airports, commercial buildings and data-center projects.

STARC’s products are reusable temporary construction wall systems designed to be used across hundreds of jobs, and the company says demand has continued to rise nationwide. That matters in Brunswick because the new plant is not just more floor space. It adds manufacturing, operations, warehousing and shipping capacity at a site that was once part of the former Naval Air Station Brunswick and is now managed by the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority.

The company’s growth story has been building for years. In April 2024, Mainebiz reported that STARC was planning an 85,000-square-foot manufacturing and administrative facility at Brunswick Landing, after years of 30% annual revenue growth. At that point, the company had about 100 employees and was nearing $40 million in revenue, with expectations to add 15% to 20% to its workforce each year in production, manufacturing management, sales, marketing and support roles.

Earlier project materials show how the Brunswick Landing plan evolved as demand grew. A Canal 5 Studio listing described the project as a 105,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters, while STARC’s own later materials and press release identified the finished building as 107,000 square feet. The company started in 2015 at TechPlace, Brunswick Landing’s technology incubator, and has now moved into a much larger footprint built for scale.

Vice president of manufacturing David LaFlamme said the expanded site gives STARC more room to become efficient and add automation. The company also said robotics will be used at the new plant, which took about a year to build. For Brunswick and the surrounding region, the opening is another sign that the old base continues to gain traction as an industrial and commercial center, with more room for suppliers, more work for local employees and a stronger long-term role in the county’s economic mix.
