Farmington beats Cibola 60-47 on Senior Night at Scorpion Arena
Dayton Bizzell hit a career-high 25 points, including 7-for-9 from three, as Farmington beat Cibola 60-47 in Senior Night at Scorpion Arena, snapping a three-game skid.
Dayton Bizzell erupted for a career-high 25 points to lift Farmington to a 60-47 Senior Night victory over Cibola at Scorpion Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, snapping a three-game losing streak and moving the Scorpions to 16-9 overall (3-6 District 1-5A). The win kept Farmington level with Cibola in district records; Cibola fell to 11-14 overall (3-6 District 1-5A).
Farmington opened the game with an 18-0 run and led 20-3 after the first quarter, a burst coach Larry-Don Chitty highlighted by name: “Also, it was the first game without [Sataurus], we didn’t know how that was going to look, and to see the team come out the way they did with the 18-0 start was impressive.” Sataurus Griego, a senior, was unavailable after suffering a season-ending injury in the prior loss to Volcano Vista, and Chitty said he was proud of Griego’s leadership during Tuesday’s game.

The middle quarters tightened as both teams scored 15 in the second, then Cibola outscored Farmington 15-7 in the third to make it a contest heading to the fourth. Farmington closed the game with an 18-14 fourth-quarter edge to secure the 60-47 final. Zander Griego supplied a three-point play in the fourth, and reserve lineups checked in during the final minute to close out the Senior Night victory.
Bizzell’s shooting was decisive: he finished 7-for-9 from beyond the arc and his late barrage ended any Cougar rally. “Bizzell extinguished any Cougar comeback hopes in the final frame, hitting back-to-back 3-pointers and another following a layup by Cibola sophomore Jonah Foster.” Donathan Tracy contributed 8 points and 7 rebounds for Farmington, and the Scorpions finished with 15 team assists on the night, a mark tied to a larger trend, Farmington is 13-4 when they record that many assists.

With seeding implications looming, Chitty put the result in context: “If [Cibola] would have beaten us tonight, we would be behind them in the seeding, and if we can win again Thursday, that’ll kind of keep us where we are now.” Farmington travels to rival Piedra Vista on Thursday at 7 p.m.; Cibola is scheduled to play at Volcano Vista at 7 p.m. The Feb. 17 game is available for replay on the NFHS Network, the official streaming partner of the NMAA and Farmington High School.
