Kirtland Central High School's girls basketball team overcame an unexpected travel disruption and a strong opponent to post a 63-43 road victory over Albuquerque Academy on Saturday, Jan. 3. The Broncos' scheduled 2:30 p.m. tipoff was pushed back by more than an hour after their team bus turned around early on US Highway 550, but the delay did little to slow the visitors.

Senior guard Haylee Nocki and junior Zoey Benally carried the offensive load. Nocki finished with 23 points, hitting five three-pointers, while Benally added 17 points, including three shots from beyond the arc.
