Kirtland Central Senior Reaches 1,000 Career Points as Broncos Beat Bloomfield 72-24

Senior guard Haylee Nocki reached the 1,000-career-point milestone while Kirtland Central closed the regular season with a 72-24 home win over Bloomfield at Bronco Arena on Thursday, Feb. 19, the school said. The recognition for Nocki occurred in front of teammates, coaches and visiting dignitaries during the game.

Kirtland Central’s balanced scoring keyed the rout. Allyson Tsosie led the Broncos with 13 points, Zoey Benally scored 12, and Haylee Nocki, Elaina Clani and Krista Tsingine-Yazzie each finished with 10 points, according to local reporting. Tricityrecordnm reported that both Nocki and Tsosie surpassed the 1,000-career-point mark; the school’s Instagram post explicitly recognized Nocki’s 1,000-point milestone.

The victory pushed Kirtland Central to 24-2 overall and 10-0 in District 1-4A, handing the Broncos their 13th straight win heading into postseason play. Kirtland Central’s season-long dominance shows in multi-year totals and district scoring margins. Since the 2021-22 season the Broncos are credited with a 137-18 record and a 47-3 district mark, and Tricityreported that Kirtland Central has outscored district opponents by an average margin of more than 45 points across 10 district games. That body of work likely secures the top-ranked Broncos a number-one seed in the state tournament scheduled to begin Friday, March 6, Tricityreported.

Bloomfield left Bronco Arena with a 10-16 overall record and a 1-9 district mark. Tricityrecordnm reported that the Bobcats will be on the road Monday night for the first round of the District 1-4A tournament, while Kirtland Central will await Monday’s first-round results to learn its district opponent later in the week.

She’s a great leader. She works so hard at everything that she does. She wants to play at the next level. She’s doing it now. I have no doubt that she’ll be able to reach those goals.” Williams described her own reaction: “I was just excited because like my dad had told me and I was just realizing because I needed only like one more shot.”

Kirtland Central now turns toward district tournament play in the coming week with a 24-2 record, a perfect 10-0 district slate and a program resume that projects a high seed at the state tournament beginning March 6.
