San Juan College Online IT Program Ranked No. 2 in the Nation

San Juan College's online Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology has been ranked No. 2 in the nation in TechGuide's 2026 Best Online Associate in Information Technology Programs, the Farmington-based college announced March 9.

The recognition places SJC among the top IT programs in the country at the two-year level, a notable achievement for a community college serving the Four Corners region. The ranking arrives alongside a credential few institutions can claim: San Juan College holds a designation from the National Security Agency as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, making it the only two-year institution in New Mexico to carry that distinction.

The online program is designed to move quickly. Students can complete the full 18-month degree while studying hardware, networking, and cybersecurity entirely online. The curriculum prepares graduates to sit for CompTIA and Microsoft certifications, and the college holds CompTIA Academic Partner status, giving students access to resources tied directly to one of the IT industry's primary credentialing bodies.

Cost has historically been a barrier to workforce training programs, and SJC has structured this degree to address that directly. The college offers low tuition rates and notes that qualifying students can pursue the degree tuition-free through New Mexico's Opportunity Scholarship and Lottery Scholarship programs.

The ranking adds national weight to a program that the NSA's NCAE-CD designation had already set apart regionally.
