Corrales police resolve mistaken bicycle theft report on San Felipe Trail

Corrales police posted a July 20 crime-and-safety bulletin that cleared up a bicycle theft complaint on San Felipe Trail after officers learned the three bikes were at a neighbor’s home. The report began when a resident said on Sunday, July 12 that three bicycles had been stolen from outside his garage, but follow-up showed the bikes were accounted for and no theft case was opened.

The update was published as a Police Department news flash on the Village of Corrales website, part of the civic-alerts system the department uses for public-safety notices. A separate bulletin, titled Crime and Safety Update for 7/13/26, had gone up a week earlier, showing the department is using the online channel for regular weekly-style reporting rather than only major incidents.

That matters in Corrales because the bulletin format captures the smaller calls that shape neighborhood policing: minor theft complaints, traffic stops, nuisance calls, welfare checks and other quality-of-life incidents. In a village where streets and addresses are closely tied to local memory, a mistaken theft report can quickly become a source of concern unless officers correct the record.
