Rio Rancho Mayor Hull Marks 12 Years Supporting Haven House BBQ
Mayor Gregg Hull kicked off his 12th Haven House BBQ in Rio Rancho, supporting the county's only domestic violence shelter as a mayoral runoff election approaches this week.

Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull kicked off the annual Haven House BBQ on Monday, completing 12 consecutive years of public support for the organization that stands as Sandoval County's only domestic violence shelter and services provider. Local leaders offered praise at the event, their commendations landing just ahead of this week's mayoral runoff election.
Haven House provides 24/7 emergency crisis intervention and emergency shelter for women and children, with a hotline staffed every hour of every day. Services span seven categories including emergency assistance, legal and financial aid, counseling, housing, children's services, support services, and community education. The shelter is wheelchair accessible and maintains a pet shelter, a resource that removes a common obstacle for survivors who fear leaving animals behind when fleeing an abusive home.
Haven House holds membership in the state domestic violence coalition. As the county's sole dedicated domestic violence resource, the organization handles both the immediate emergency needs of arriving residents and longer-term support across multiple service tracks.
Hull has backed the annual BBQ for all 12 consecutive years, a record local leaders cited while praising his tenure as mayor. That tenure now faces its next test in this week's runoff, where his sustained commitment to Haven House stood as a point of public credit among attendees.
Women and children in Sandoval County who need emergency assistance can contact Haven House through its 24/7 crisis hotline.
