Richard Evans stood at the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce on March 19 to mark something that has been five decades in the making. The ribbon-cutting for Vision City Appliance Service was an opening celebration, yes, but the work behind it stretches back to 1975, when his father Bob Evans founded Evans Appliance Service and planted the family's roots in Rio Rancho's trades community.

Richard and his wife Glenda founded Vision City Appliance Service in 2025 as the next-generation version of the family business. The new name signals a fresh chapter without abandoning what came before.

"We're very proud to be a Rio Rancho company. The community support has been overwhelming at times," Richard Evans said.

The company's technicians hold factory training credentials across a range of major brands, including Bosch, GE, Sub-Zero, Thermador, Viking, Whirlpool, and Wolf, among others. Evans credits that depth of training as central to what the business offers beyond its family name. "Aside from the legacy, we're very highly trained. We're factory trained and we hire wonderful people," he said. "We're affordable. We're quick. They have a choice to choose someone locally here in Rio Rancho. I would like it to be us."

Vision City covers refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, ranges, cooktops, and built-in appliances. The primary service area spans Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, Placitas, Santa Fe, and part of Albuquerque.

Once a month, the crew also makes the drive east to Fort Sumner and Santa Rosa. Evans said the decision came down to equity: "We found that they were underserved communities and they were paying too much for service." The company charges no extra fee for those trips.

Evans has also been training the next generation within the business itself, with Jordan Padilla listed on the company team page as an apprentice. Vision City is a member of both the United Appliance Servicers Association and the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber.
