Lake Mary hospital marks 1,500th birth with baby Zoe
Zoe’s birth pushed Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital to 1,500 deliveries, a fast climb that shows how quickly the new maternity program has taken hold in Seminole County.

Zoe arrived just ahead of Mother’s Day and marked more than a family milestone for Ashley and Ian. Her birth, at 5 pounds, 13 ounces, became Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital’s 1,500th at the Center for Women and Babies, a pace that points to strong demand for maternity care in Lake Mary and the surrounding Seminole County market.
The hospital opened in January 2025 and has moved quickly from new entrant to a destination for labor and delivery. Orlando Health opened the 455,000-square-foot facility with 124 beds and designed it to grow to 240 beds, signaling that the system expects sustained demand. The maternity unit is part of Orlando Health Women’s Institute, and the hospital has also said a future NICU is planned, a key draw for families who want more specialized care close to home.

The speed of the milestones tells its own story. Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital celebrated its 500th baby on July 6, 2025, and reached its 1,000th baby milestone in early 2026, before crossing the 1,500-birth mark on May 1. That rapid growth suggests the hospital has already become part of daily life for families who might otherwise have traveled farther for delivery care, especially as Lake Mary and the broader Seminole County corridor continue to add residents and housing.
Orlando Health has framed the hospital as part of a 40-year commitment to Seminole County, and the service model is built around keeping more care local. The Center for Women and Babies offers tours for prospective families, part of a broader effort to win expecting parents looking for high-level women’s services without leaving their community. For Lake Mary, the 1,500th birth is more than a ceremonial number. It is a sign that the hospital is not only open, but competing successfully for families who want maternity care closer to home, with room to grow as the county does.
