Becky Scheerer has taken over the top fundraising job at Anne Carlsen at a moment when the Jamestown nonprofit is asking donors to help finance its next phase of growth. For families in Stutsman County who depend on the organization for disability services, the hire matters because Anne Carlsen is trying to build a new home for programs that now stretch from early intervention to residential care.

Anne Carlsen identified Scheerer as chief development officer in its Giving Hearts Day 2026 materials, placing her at the center of the organization’s campaign to expand support for people with developmental disabilities or delays. The nonprofit says it has served North Dakota families for more than 85 years and works in 41 of the state’s 53 counties, making the development office a key link between local need and statewide philanthropy.

The timing is important in Jamestown. Anne Carlsen says its current facility is approaching its 80th birthday, and it is moving ahead with Pathway for the Future, a campaign for a new, innovative, high-profile facility in the city. The question for parents, caregivers and school-age families is whether that effort will bring more room, more stability and better access to services as demand grows. Anne Carlsen’s programs include early intervention, K-12 education, behavioral health and residential care, all services that can affect daily routines for children and adults who need consistent support.

Scheerer steps into the role after already being part of Anne Carlsen’s development work. In January 2022, Anne Carlsen hired her as director of planned giving. By January 2023, the organization had promoted Tiffany Hunt to chief development officer, showing that the post has been part of a shifting leadership structure as the nonprofit adapts to bigger capital needs.

The scale of that challenge is clear in the organization’s finances. A 2024 nonprofit filing database entry listed Anne Carlsen Center’s revenue at $43.6 million, expenses at $49.3 million, total assets at $161 million and liabilities at $109 million. Against that backdrop, the 2026 Giving Hearts Day campaign brought in $484,632, money that Anne Carlsen says will support its mission as it tries to build for the next generation of care in Jamestown.
