Blue Jays hit four home runs, swept by Bismarck High in doubleheader
Four home runs were not enough as Bismarck High’s five-run third inning flipped Game 1 and set up a sweep of Jamestown at Sanford Sports Complex.

Four home runs traveled out of the yard for Jamestown, but one five-run inning in Bismarck turned the doubleheader into a warning sign for the Blue Jays. Bismarck High swept Jamestown on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Sanford Sports Complex, and Game 1 ended 6-5 after the Demons broke through with a five-run third.
That inning was the hinge point. Jamestown stayed close on the scoreboard, but Bismarck’s third-inning burst was enough to erase the margin and force the Blue Jays to play from behind the rest of the way. For a team that showed it can hit for power, the bigger issue was whether it could prevent one rally from deciding an entire game. In a doubleheader, that kind of frame can expose pitching depth, defense and the ability to limit damage when an inning starts to unravel.
The sweep also underscored how thin the margin is in this early-season stretch for Jamestown High School. Recent Jamestown Sun sports listings have already placed the Blue Jays in a split with Bismarck St. Mary’s and a sweep of Turtle Mountain, so the trip to Bismarck was part of a demanding April run rather than an isolated stumble. The Blue Jays have shown enough offense to threaten almost any opponent, but the losses in Bismarck showed that power alone is not enough when the middle innings slip away.
The setback looked even bigger when set against last spring’s trip to the same site. On April 17, 2025, Jamestown swept Bismarck at the Sanford Sports Complex, winning 4-2 and 5-2. One year later, the reverse result left the Blue Jays with a clear lesson: the lineup can generate home runs, but the team still has to protect leads, get sharper in high-leverage innings and turn rallies into complete-game wins.
For Jamestown, that is the point of this sweep. The Blue Jays are close enough to the top local contenders to matter, but the details in the next few games will decide whether the offense becomes a strength or just a tease.
