Free Remembrance Event at Jamestown Library Offers Grief Support April 16
A free grief-support session at Alfred Dickey Public Library on April 16 will include a hands-on remembrance magnet craft and closing reflection service, open to all ages.

Jamestown residents processing a loss will have a free, structured opportunity to remember loved ones on April 16, when Alfred Dickey Public Library hosts a community remembrance session from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The 90-minute program is built around three activities: an educational segment on common grief reactions, a hands-on craft in which participants create personalized remembrance magnets, and a closing reflection service to honor those who have died. The session is open to all ages and is designed with families in mind, making it one of the few formal grief-support offerings in Stutsman County that explicitly welcomes children alongside adults.
The event is free. Registration is requested beforehand so organizers can prepare seating and craft materials. Contact information for signing up is available through the library at 105 3rd St. SE in downtown Jamestown.
Alfred Dickey Public Library is part of the James River Valley Library System and serves as a regular site for civic and community health programming. Its central downtown location makes it a practical choice for a grief event intended to reach residents who might not seek out private counseling or commit to an ongoing support group.
The single-session format lowers the barrier for first-time participants. For caregivers, clergy, and social service workers in Stutsman County, the gathering also creates a natural point to connect residents with follow-up referrals to more intensive support if needed. Participants will leave with a tangible keepsake from the craft portion: a personalized magnet designed to hold the memory of whoever they came to remember.
